Acetone will not remove those spots. I have tried.

Looks like a keeper to me also. I have seen worse coins slabbed. Looks like a 66 to me from the pics even with the spots. I don't believe the obverse field is clean enough for a higher grade, irregardless of the spots. Really nice reverse.

I went looking through CoinFacts for other coins. There's a 2006-D graded 68RD that has some nasty spots on it. So as for the OP coin grading 68, all I can say is that apparently stranger things have happened.

Those light water spots are typically barely noticeable in hand.

The surfaces are very reflective and proof-like. I agree with RLM in that it has a shot at 67. However, I think it'd be cheaper to just buy a slabbed 67 (if you can find one) than to go through the grading hassle... just MHO.

You really never know with the grading services. I've seen some really ugly toned silver coins graded 67 and 68. I'd trust my local dealer over the grading services, honestly.

    I have a 2007-D I think that's a 65?Red PL. I paid like $8 for it.

I think there is a pop of like 6 in PL for the year.

    Let that sink in.

If you really like it, of course keep it. It would look nice in any album. But frankly speaking, unless you are going to piggy back on someone else's order to keep your costs to a minimum I really don't think you should invest all that money just for a slab. Even if it grades out as you'd wish, and as stated above, eye appeal will get you better dollars at resale.

    There are only 4 at NGC. 64,65,66,and a 67. More registry points for a MS65RD. 50-3

I guess I have the lowest graded for the 2007. My other one was a 65

Send it to ACG. You would likely get an MS-70 full blazing red.

Now that I am home and can look at it under a 10x magnifier, I say that it is MS-67 max, likely MS-66 due to the spots. It might be PL worthy.

    I'm not sending it in.

Thanks for all the input! :)

ANACS is running a special. Piggyback with someone. 10 bucks a coin + free shipping, 10 coins min. When you get it back, we'd love to see it.

But it wouldn't sell unless it was in PCGS plastic. It's just how the market is, unfortunately.

PCGS will grade it and set a price on it but only a fool would buy it so why even do it?

Although I do have some slabs,
I am more of a keep it put away, maybe the kids get it. Kind of guy.
The cost in 30 + years could be dif.
    I doubt It!
It seems that everything today gets graded by a a tpg and entombed.
Some can call it a service,
Some can call it a disgrace to the coin.
I would put it in an album,
And, check in on it every once in a while.

    Bill Fivaz said MS-66/67.

Lesson learned. Look at my high-grade moderns through a loupe before asking for help. I seem to have wasted my time doing otherwise.
