so I found this magnetic Canada penny. And it just so happens to be the only magnetic penny in my 2.00 dollars worth of Canada pennies
See the P below the bust of the Queen? That indicated that it is plated steel. The canadian mint did some real world testing by striking and putting plated coins into circulation to see how the plating held up. The plated one have the P on them. Eventually they decided the plating was going to hold up, switched to just plated coins and dropped the P.
The coin is not magnetic..it's attracted to a magnet! You can't use it as a magnet to attract other steel coins.
ok ok I looked up the definition and I understand capable of being magnetized or attracted by a magnet. I just meant that it is not an actual magnet
Okay what I mean is the coin sticks to a magnet lol. The coin doesn't attract other coins. I'm starting to see how dumb I am lol
OP your coin is the " new effigy ' coin https://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?coin=1-cent-2003&years=1-cent-1990-2003
It’s not you. In listings, the word “magnetic” is used to describe a coin. But the meaning is as @paddyman98 explained. There are several confusing phrases and terms that accompany listings. You learn by experience what they are. This is a learning experience for you…Spark
