No they make them also.
They casted all of there class rings at there facilities i called jostens and Balfour allready.

But you are correct they said its a lost art and they would have to contact one of there old ring technicians to find out the composition for sure.

Did you ever get answers to these questions? It's now 2023 and I believe my 1985 class rings was made of Palladium and my parents chose it because it was less expensive and would last a lifetime.

 

I don't think anybody got a definitive answer, and it's a little less urgent now that palladium's fallen from its high of nearly $3000 back to around $1000. But that's still almost 10 times its 1985 price.

Your best bet is to find a jeweler or precious-metal dealer with an XRF analyzer and ask them to zap it for you. (I don't know whether you're actually interested in selling, but I suppose that always depends a bit on the offer, and most PM businesses should understand that.)

I thought Palladium was pretty kewl back then but I liked gold better. So I got my rings in gold.
