1985 Lincoln cent 2.3gs

    I know why this zinc penny is light but I don't know if this clip is from The Mint or from somebody else because I seen onekninternet that they showed a clip planchet and it was Jagged clip the coin only ways 2.3gs

    That is the exposed zinc corroding.
    Common with modern Zlincolns.

    Planchets aren't actually clipped. They are incomplete. Meaning they were punched out from the sheet to close to the previous punched planchet. So it would be a perfect curve from the previous hole. So yours is just damage/exposed to the edge as stated from another member.

    Maybe I’m missing it but when I look at the obverse and reverse photos I don’t see where it’s incomplete. This looks like damage after it left the mint.
    Even a small area missing shows on both sides of the coin.

    I think it was added out of the mint by the shape for monetary enhancement.
