Well I just went through a couple hundred dollars worth of quarters and found nothing.. did $50 dollars worth of Lincoln’s and found even less! Is anyone winning? Lol! I may try dimes next. Thoughts
I've been going through a lot of boxes of cents recently. If I find something older, say from the 60s or 70s with most of their luster, I keep them. Otherwise, I put away any die chips or cracks. The Memorials are riddled with cracks on the reverse. I just put them in tubes depending on where the crack is. To me, they're fun to keep and they only cost me 1¢ each and the tubes don't take up much space.
What are you looking for ? Silver and wheats ... Everyone is different but I like to look for varieties & die rotations. That's where higher value coins hide in plain sight. Examples I've found is 1984 Double Ear Lincoln, 1999 wide AM Lincoln and 1988 RDV-006 Lincoln. Variety hunting is tough for some but if one memorizes what to look for - it's easy. Snowman
. Snowman, with quarters I’m looking errors, with Lincoln I’m looking for errors and varieties. There’s just so much to look for and things to remember while flipping through rolls.. I just got into the coin searching thing about a year ago and some days it’s fun while other days it’s work. I don’t need a job! Lol
I enjoy nickels and found some keepers. Lincoln cents are ok but I find myself drifting off when flipping through them. When it happens, my vision improves!
I've found some amazing chips and cracks on pennies, nickels, and quarters. Recently I've found a couple amazing cracks on the reverses of eagle quarters and a nice chip on one. I'm thinking a lot of hunters just disregard them but I like them.
I'm in the process of memorizing where die chips on the reverses of the National Park quarters tend to be on each design. It's fun to find them even though there's no added value.
