Have you ordered these rolls of Presidential dollars before? If you have how many appear to grade higher than 66? I got a roll of Native American dollars and they were not that great.
I have not ordered from the US Mint before. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm not looking to get a grade that bad, really want to give most of them out as gifts. If I spot a nice one I'll use a free grading certificate that I have.
That would be great. I have ordered many things from them. Quality varies. A few really nice coins can even things up real quick. Hope yours are all 66 and above. Since, they are your first Presidential roll buys, you are obligated to tell us the amount of A and B position coins you get. Just kidding about the obligation thing.
I have some unopened rolls, a 2007D Thomas Jefferson roll and a 2000P Sacagewea roll. Are they worth opening up to see if there's any MS66+?
The Sacs not financially but if you wanted to for your own enjoyment yes. The D does alright but even MS 68 Ps even in PCGS slabs can go around 20 and the NGC ones don't even cover the cost of grading a lot of the time. The Jeffersons are even worse on a lot of completed listings. Both would likely be losers financially if that was the motivation. 69 is probably what you would need to hit to make any money on either
Position A PCGS 67s are going for around 30-40 it looks like with position B for the P mint going in the 60-90 range from the latest ebay sales
Didn't I see some of those already on eBay, inspired by some of her modeling work? I think they were listed as "heads/tails novelty coins", or something like that...
If there were no paper dollars, everybody would use them and to think otherwise is just folly. When I was in England, I asked for a roll or two of Pennies. They didn't have any rolls since their coins come in sealed plastic bags. Going to the Market was challenging since the British have way different food preferences than what is typically found in the states. At check out and paying with English currency, the clerk, without hesitation, counted back my change with a 2 lb coin, 1 lb, coin a 50 pence piece and various other coin. I observed this action repeatedly while waiting in line to check out. Not a single person complained. In the States, we reserve the right to keep things as simple as possible thereby protecting our ignorant bliss in order to whine about how much the government wastes our tax dollars just so we don't have to actually think. By that, I mean, how difficult would it be to incorporate dollar and/or 2 dollar coins into the market place. Not difficult at all yet we continue to waste money on producing bills and coins which cost more to produce than they are actually worth just so the public doesn't have to use their peanut for anything other than a whining tool.
Actually, the System which member banks order coins from the Federal Reserve "used" to allow banks to order specific rolls of Presidential Dollars and State Quarters. Today, they can only order generic presidential dollars and generic rolls of quarters.
Too political remark to post.........didn't pull the trigger (post). But maybe if some of us write to our President elect, he might do something about eliminating the paper dollar. Lord knows, writing to your congressman doesn't do a danged thing.......
If he sees we are losing money in just making them, like the cent, he may just do away with both on his own. Just as a side point, am I the only one excited to have a former model as the first lady? Remind me to write a thank-you note to Slovenia.

And maybe we can get a contestant from are you smarter than a fifth grader to explain it to him![/QUOTE] Easy now. Mods may delete this. Oh wait this isnt pro Trump so nevermind.
Personally, I think nothing should replace them. The general public doesn't like them and they don't use them. Therefore, they are a waste of money. I understand they are cheaper than using $1 bills due to the amount of time that they will circulate...but if they aren't circulating then there is no point. It is clear that we (as a country) have no interest in getting rid of the $1 bill...which is the only way the coin would see wide spread use. So, I would sack the whole $1 coin idea. I also believe (perhaps to the detriment of this hobby)...that this problem will eventually solve itself as physical currency is phased out over the next century. I honestly believe the day will come when everything is done on a card. Like many of you, I don't like that idea...but I think that will happen eventually.
