Custom printing options for coin flip paper inserts?

Discussion in 'Coin Chat' started by Original Skin Coins, Jul 26, 2016.

  1. I'm looking for a printing service where I can get customized paper inserts for 2x2 coin flips, but I haven't been able to find anything online. Anybody here know of any printing services that can do that? We're talking about a piece of paper roughly 1.7" x 1.7", to fit in the flip.

You used to be able to get these in like 81/2 by 11 sheets and print your own using software like office and such. Then you could do it yourself. I just write what I need on them. Good enough for me.

I'd also like to hear from the other members on what they use for these inserts.
I've been using my Brother's label maker.

I use Microsoft Word, a custom "label" format (1.7" x 1.7" sounds familiar), and a cutting board to cut them out. I know of no pre-perforated stock in the size. If you do, please share.

    Of course! It's a cultural imperative since I'm a state gov't employee!

I used the Brother P-Touch label maker, too. All you need to do is set the print option for "center-weighted", and depending on the type size, you can usually get 4-5 lines of type. Just make sure you type each line to be shorter than the width of the insert. The label is longer, but all you have to do is wrap it around the insert for the flip.

In two weeks, I'm going from my state job working for a legislature that's presently not in session, to running my backside off working for the ANA in Anaheim, and I'm calling it "vacation". What makes it all worth it is the high quality people that ANA permanent staff are. Top notch folks who really care about putting on a nice event.

I've just always used a spreadsheet, set the cells the right size, print on cardstock, with the lines, cut 'em out. I have terrible handwriting...nice to be able to print them.:)

Sweet idea. I always forget about resizing cells.

May I ask why you're looking for a "printing service" as opposed to simply doing it yourself?

...and if I could get 1.7" square pre-perforated stock, I'm not sure what I'd do.

So he's only asking about the paper?

No, I don't think he is, but I am. I get the impression he wants a consistent branding look for his inventory. Ever see one of Daniel Carr's inserts? Whatever you think of what he does, the presentation is pretty nice.

The sound of the blade running over the metal edge is just so, so, so,...guillotinesque.

I use photoshop and have a template with type that I change easily. Use acid-free paper, though. I haven't acquired any new coins for a while now. I guess that I have them ALL :playful:!

That was my impression as well, although if this is the case I'd think it would be in his best interests to do them himself as opposed to paying to have them printed for him, at least if just starting out.

I am familiar with Mr. Carr's inserts, and indeed think them well done. Perhaps he would be so kind as to share his source or methods? @dcarr
