The Japanese did not print 50 yen notes for use in Japan and they issued few 20 yen notes in Japan. These were not denominations they used at home. There was also no 50 yen AMC note.
You should let someone keep up with that note for you, I know a volunteer. Any idea how many changes were made to the design of the occupation notes during the war? I posted 2 examples of a 10 peso note, but don't have any information about either.
The first series of Philippine notes were the centavo notes and the 1, 5 and 10 peso featuring the banyan tree. The second issue of Philippine notes with the Riza monument were issued by the Southern Development Bank which was founded in 1942 and oversaw the economies of all the occupied areas of SE Asia.
a little puzzled here, i just got this in off the bay its a 1000 Pesos, the reason im so puzzled is the size you would think it would be the same size as the 500 but its Not here,s a comparison, the series looks wrong this was posted as Philippines dates 1942-certinaly not an expert on this but just curious
I just found some additional information On this, so I found the answer I was looking for will post more tomorrow on it
That depends on how you define JIM. Did the 1000 peso come ashore with the original Japanese invasion force? No. But neither did the Rizal Monument series of Japanese military peso notes. Nor the 500 peso note. JIM is a generic term for the paper money introduced into Japanese occupied areas during WWII except for China. It does not literally mean only money that was part of the initial invasion.
Ok, Here,s what i found out the the Japanese issued currency three times once in 1942 (pick 102-108) consisted of one, five, ten and fifty centavos and 1,5,10 pesos 1943 or what we see most of today in 1,5,10 and 100 Pesos (pick 109-112) 1944-1945 came the 500 and 1,000 peso notes (pick 113-115)
Here,s my example from Malaya, $100 Dollars Circa 1943 note is in awesome shape except for a slight corner ding this note is in perfect condition
My dad had 2 of them in his stash, both in pretty good shape. I wish he had kept more of the smaller denominations in mint condition like the others I posted.
Well its an outstanding collection going to try and build on my Malaya collection i have a good start with that $100
