yes. My D qt appears to be silver plated! That said, were these coin sets being offered made from 100% silver, gold, or platinum?
The reason I ask, when stretched, bent, and hammered into a ring, wouldn’t the metal under the plating show through?
I can speak from experience. Besides seeing them for sale on websites, I picked up about 3 dozen sets of them from a dealer friend of mine in New Hampshire many years ago. He let me have them a face value and that's what he paid for them to take them off someones hands. They were both P & D sets. These were ,sadly, sold at quite a high price to collectors to capitalize on the quarter fad that started with the sate quarters. Purely a marketing gimmick and one that many thousands of people fell for. The coating is so thin, either in platinum or gold, that it's not really worth anything at all. I unloaded those at a small profit just for fun. I did not make a whole lot. Just barely covered my face value and postage and did it for the fun of it.
