So I'm sure most of you Coin Nuts :) can tell who knows what they are doing and who dont. So have been buying boxes of coins from my bank for the past 8 month to an year and trying my luck at a couple different branch locations, So i got in pretty good with the vault tellers and Now so with that being said i tried my first order getting 4 boxes and pennies and 1 box of nickels, and i did that fora couple months than i started to get 7 boxes and did that for a couple months, and ALWAYS picked my the boxes that they had ordered for me FREE OF CHARGE WITHOUT HAVING a BUSINEss ACCOUNT, well I CALL in on firday and say HEY #$###$ so I was WOndering How many boxes im allowed to order so this time we tried 10 and they system allowed it, and ill being going through those boxes of pennies on and off throughtout the month since its 25000 pennies, We are gonna try for 15 boxes next time until we hit an "limit because she actually didnt know the answer.
SO I know im being pretty counter productive doing this part this way but i get home and i get to work unwrapping those rolls and skimming through them pulling all pre 1983 pennies, rainbow color coins, and all or Multi colored coins/toned, wheats, than i pull the 1987-1989 all lower 2000's 1983/92/93 1998-1999-2000 and thats its im still learning the keys date...I KEEP ALL coPPER, AND bOY i HAVE iD SAY 6-8 $25 PENNY BOXES FULL/Semi organized by dates, than bags of bags of 1982's pennies that i have to go through..... and than i Have my what im assuming would be my MintS COINS, the creme of the crop so to speak with FULL luster/Sharp Strikes.... dating from teh 1950s to like 2018.... Im trying focus on error coins but im thinking that will come in time and maybe i should focus on just gathering/creating a Registery Set. I have a good little bit of foriegn coins ive collected through finding in rolls as well and was even thinking about making a Canadian set......
IM so excited lol i can wait for my bank to open to see what kind of goodies i get from these rolls...... what are some way you guys sort your coin while unwrapping them and looking for errors?

Hey late nighter! I like the penny, don't get me wrong but I personally only collect Wheaties and earlier. I've tried my luck with looking for the Wide Am/ close Am thing w/o success. I just like the quality of some of the coins out there for the Wheatback. thumb.gif
I wish you the best though and most importantly, enjoy yourself because once that goes, the hobby/coins no longer are a joy to appreciate.

For reference, to variety hunt a box of cents using an hour or two a night might take me a week or two. I always planned 2 weeks.

To each their own on what to look for and what to collect. Back in the late 70s I flipped cents over to snag LWCs. When I got back into CRH 10-15 years ago, I started to do the same. But yields of 10-12 LWCs made the effort disappointing. Scarcity due to billions of common cents forced me to consider varieties and errors. It was just what I needed.

Some folks have the time and processes to get through multiple boxes in a month. But for those just starting, a box or two in a month would be a challenge.

    Good luck on the hunt!!
