It's already in an airtite, but in a square one.

Worth slabbing? Or grading? Sounds like you already have it in a slab.

657,000 only minted , I think - Nice coin - if you have the money to slabbed it then go for it!!! But I think you are looking at a VF - Don't take me for value but maybe around 200$

The Morgan looks really nice but the Buff is worn - I don't like the square plastic holders as compared to the black ringed Air Tights - Just my opinion!!!

Looks like a natural, lightly toned XF in hand, but that's just me.

Also it's not my lowest mintage, I'll post my 1852-O and 1871-S half dimes (mintage 260000 and 161000 respectively) tomorrow. For now, good night.

I wouldn't even though the mintage is low. XF at best.

P1010924.JPG Instead of slabbing, mine is inside a nice quality time piece. I like to be different.

No, as it isn't in good enough condition to slab for value. Just keep it in an airtite.

If it were mine, I'd have it graded, but would send it with enough other coins to minimize the shipping and handling overhead. Looks like an AU53.

I would grade it XF-AU and think it's worth being certified.

    I'd slab it.

Lots of reasons: Grade, authenticate, preserve, protect, and confirm it's not a "details" coin.

And it might be worth the extra cost if you think it's a desirable VAM: http://www.vamworld.com/1888-S+VAMs

    You also have an 1879-S?

The Morgan below is one of many I inherited. It's been in my family over 50 years. Not especially valuable for the grade. But I like its worn look. And it's one of my favorites because I discovered it's got the Reverse of 1878 (a "Top 100").

Also a bargain: Only $10 to slab it during an ANACS special.

Easy to identify the Rev of 1878 by the parallel arrow feather (PAF):
