Not exactly. They won’t guarantee the color designation, BN, RB or RD, ON copper. That was written around 10 years ago…….I’m not sure if they guarantee color designation at all now. just found the PCGS statement: IMPORTANT: Because the color and surfaces of copper coins can change due to environmental factors, PCGS does not guarantee the color of copper coins, or the absence of copper spotting, for any PCGS graded copper coin graded or sold after January 1, 2010. NGC guarantees the color designation for 10 years from the date of encapsulation.
I learned a lesson once... One of the guys at the coin club was going to send in a lot of 15 coins to submit. (some promotional deal) He only had 8 of his own coins and asked if anyone else had any to add so we could all benefit from the promotional package deal. I gathered up two US gold pieces and he did the paperwork, sent the 15 submissions in the mail to one of the top 3 graders and got back 13 slabs and 2 rejected guess which two? Yup, my two gold coins went on a trip and came back just as he sent them. Reading over the fine print, gold was not eligible for this offer. His 13 submissions didn't meet the 15 offer threshold and he and a few others ended up paying more than they thought. Would be nice to have these 2 pieces graded and slabbed sometime but honestly with the extra costs, I'd rather have a coin.
We all live and learn! I get curious of some coins, not zinc lol, but I get weary to send in. Cost etc. Losing it. Most are my dad’s.
