Here we are again with Soren trying to figure out if a coin is real or not. Sonis this 1943 steel cent plated or not, It is just in such good condition and i think i got it with one that was very obviously plated, I just want to make sure.
Much better, although the color doesn't reveal anything for me. Possibly someone else with a bit more knowledge can help you.
1943 pennies were made from zinc plated steel. You actually want to know if your penny has been replated. Originally, the blanks were punched after the stock was plated, so the steel was exposed on the edge. If your coin is plated on its edge, it has been reprocessed.
It doesn't have the look of a reprocessed cent. Those typically look really shiny, with a sloppy, gunky plating layer on an underlying VF coin. But as rickmp said, check the edge.
It looks replated to me, but even if it isn't it appears to be lightly circulated. Why pay ANACS $10 plus shipping for a one or two dollar at most coin?
