Couple of new bronzes have been added to my collection. Agrippa is ex. @red_spork while the Limes Severus is from the small lot I got with the Antioch Maesa. Severus is very dark so I used the sellers pic, nicer in hand. Reverse is fine, no corrosion pits like the pic shows, just the figures clothes. Otherwise it would be gone. AGRIPPA (Died 12 B.C.) What is with the SWIRLY on the guy's forehead??? Oh, man... reminds me of football practices and what we did to the Freshmen players... (And, when I was a Freshman, they NEVER got me! Fought too hard...)
My only Agrippa... RI Agrippa AE As 28mm 11g Neptune-S-C Looks like we have the same coin @Mat! COS III... cool And Septimius Severus RI Septimus Severus 193-211 AR Denarius Genius Sacrificing
Good looking coins, the 2nd one is a denarius? Looks really dark, and I thought denarius' are silver.
Watermark, could use a beer now actually. Commonly known as a "Limes Denarius", can read more at: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/numiswiki/view.asp?key=limes denarius
Mat, I'm a big Agrippa fan and didn't realize that a version with a rostral crown exists. The guy came out of nowhere and exhibited some intelligence and drive that would put 2 dozen patrician senators to shame. Add to that getting his name across the front of the finest ancient domed building in Rome. Of course, it helps if Augustus is your best friend. I'm going to have to put your version on my want list. Thanks for posting
