I succumbed to the allure of 'new thing'. I wanted an example of a new NGC X to see what all the hooplah was about. The price was right so now I have one. Overall a clean and sleek look to it. Don't really care about the grading system as I prefer what I'm accustomed to for the past 50 years. So really just a novelty to me.
We will need a conversion chart but I would have to guess that is falling in the PF69-70 range? Mathematically, I think it comes out to PF69.3 For picking an example, you did good. I bet 10.0 would be expensive for any coin. I'm too old to learn new tricks. Nice coin!
Without someone stating the date, I would never know what it is. The actual condition of the coin is masked by the darkened capsule it is in. The coin may be awesome but the presentation is not.
You just can’t hand out tens. Has any BS coin received a perfect 70. I really don’t think so. Am I right. I grade like crap. I would love to see a 70. Nice pickin
I think that's more on me than the capsule. The area around the coin itself it open. I leaned the slab on the base of a lamp to take a quick cell phone shot so that open area was in the shadow. The coin is indeed a deep mirror and didn't really show up as well as I was expecting but it's very clear in hand.
Nice coin, I don't like the new grading system. But, I certainly understand your reasons for wanting one. I've thought a lot about this for a couple of weeks or so. I just cannot believe that because the grading system was changed to the same as comic books more people, predominately younger, to collect coins. Most people get interested in coins before the grading system is familar to them. I think they believe many people will send in their coins to be redone in the latest. Think about the Advanced Release, First Strike, First Day of Issue, and so on. That ASE with privy mark was very hard to find without some type of "pedigree" on the slab. So many people are really in to all of this and will pay more to have it. It is all about the money, as it always is. I have to tell you I am glad the other grading companies, as far as I know, have not jumped on this. But, if it is sucessful they will and they can't be blamed for that.
Pam, I prefer to buy coins that are not slabbed as they are lower price, easier to examine the surfaces and weigh if necessary. But that is after decades in the hobby. Also , ( and others may disagree ) I am not sure every coin is given equal time and effort. But that's just me. If it is a "maybe special " coin I am unsure of , I send it to Outsider at ICG- I highly respect him, although I have disagreed with him sometimes. Jim
