I've been in the club less than a year so this'll be my first time going. They sold out the dealers tables, so I expect to see a lot of goodies. I learned they have good security, with Lenexa PD presence and scanning all attendees' drivers licenses upon entry.

    Nope. Geographically undesireable.

Not sure whether "geographically undesirable" describes the show, my location, or both, but a 16-hour drive isn't in the cards.

I meant the show's location is undesireable for me. I'd have to travel halfway across the country.

I admit, I had mixed feelings about that. But I've read all sorts of forum posts about theft at shows lately (with people complaining loudly about certain cities, or inadequate security, or poor processes for loading/unloading, etc) and so I thought, this is where we are. But I understand that there were some folks who didn't like it last year. (In the meeting, someone asked if those folks would be back this year, and the chairman said, "nope!" lol)

Well, I have attended the Collect-O-Rama semi-annual shows in Lakeland, FL for several years now. To get in, you have to show your driver's license, which they photocopy and then open all bags/containers for a brief search and at times, they've wanded us.

At the last show, I witnessed a discussion between a would-be attendee and the gatekeeper because the attendee had a firearm which was prohibited. Fellow had to take it back to the car to get admitted.

There's plenty of arguments on all sides of this issue and I don't want to get into a debate about it. But I've never had any problem associated with the photocopying of my driver's license at this show - knock on wood.
