My most recent pick up. I've tried to find time earlier in the week to post but had a busy schedule.
For some reason I have a fascination with Pax and have set out to collect ancients which portrait her. Maybe it has to do with my own search to find peace in this life. I think the hardest part will be finding coins with a clean strike. I'm sure you all know most coins that portrait Pax are usually weak and messy.
This buy made possible from YOC thru JA. I appreciate both of you for the opportunity.
Making my second coin from the "Mossy Bottom Barn Hoard". I love the strike on both sides. The reverse with Pax is difficult to find such a clean strike that this coin has.

Most reverses on Gallic coins are weak - it's just the nature of the beast. Bing posted a late Severan Dynasty denarius, which are typically of very high artistry and craftsmanship. It's really comparing apples and oranges. But the the OP coin has one of the nicest reverse strikes of ANY Gallic type that I've come across. And as you can see, the artistry is quite good - they were just generally lazy when it came to actually striking the dies.

Minor correction smojo: it's VICTORINVS, not VICTORIOUS.

Recent Gordian III sestertius I bought because of the Pax reverse:

    gordianIII_319.jpg

Ric 319 with Pax advancing right holding olive branch and scepter. This thing is pretty big too at 28.5mm and 23 grams.

I would like to offer an observation on the OP coin.

The obverse legend and attribution are incorrect.

The obverse legend reads IMP PIAV VICTORINVS P F AVG, where PIAV is short for PIAVVONIVS.

    RIC V-II, 117, Cologne, AGK 14a; Cohen 83

Here is my PIAV variety with a Fides reverse.

    Victorinus - Antoninianus

Obv:– IMP C PIAV VICTORINVS P F AVG, Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right
Rev:– FIDES MILITVM, Fides standing left holding two standards
    Minted in Treveri mint.
    Reference:– AGK 5b; RIC 109

It may be that I just woke up & brain is still asleep but.
There is no PIAV in the OP attribution.
I did go back to double check where I got the info from vs what I put in. It seems to be correct. So may want to double check your info.

Read the coin. It DOES have PIAV.
