Hear-Hear! Wholehearted agreement with those exact sentiments! I think you guys focusing on Late Roman, or ANY other Ancient focus is fantastic, it is what makes this Forum so enjoyable to me. I have learned so much, and actually have captured MOST of the Roman Empire portraits. Now, am seriously looking at going beyond and on into the Byzantine. This is SOLELY due to the great collectors sharing their cool coins. I love it all! I look and collect on an Historical basis, not a Numismatics basis. My musings were purely Historical thoughts, not about the coins nor the collectors.
Did you draw this? This is some great work. I can't draw to save my life. Ok maybe I can but you won't be seeing my stuff in any art museums anytime soon!
I could say the same about you guys and Republican coins. Been looking at them a bit more, esp. the bronzes. I'd probably pick one up but with my recent gold purchase and all. And the good reception towards my small collection helped as well.
Wow, it would be neat to have a characterization like this running through ALL the Emperors... I like this...
He stopped at Valentinian and Valens unfortunately. I would liked to see him draw Magnus Maximus, Flavius Victor, and Eugenius.
Great new coin Mgnus Maximus! The nice clear legends and portrait make it coin that would be super happy to have. And great write up!
