Yeah Ben has a good eye and him and I have horse traded in the past. Hopefully we will again sometime soon
Really like the 64 Kennedy and the Washington. But they are all worth going to the mailbox for, for sure.
Wow I guess I really don't know Morgan's I thought F12 still a nice one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Bought this tube of worn out buffalo nickels at the swap meet to give to my grandkids. Long story short, when I poured them out on the table my eyes popped out of my head. 13 Liberty nickels and 3 shield nickels. Unfortunately I believe all of them to be counterfeit.
Who pays $5.00 for a tube of slugs, and comes home with $800.00 worth of nickels? Nobody that I know........ This is the best photo I can send from this phone. I did a little reading and apperantly there are several coins of this type that have been altered and or faked. Thanks for your interest, and I look forward to your opinion.
Thanks for the generous offer, I'll keep that in mind. If and or when I find out for sure what I suspect is true, these will make nice targets at the range. I'm pretty sure even if these are found to be fake, they are of a quality that could fool an unsuspecting buyer. They look really nice in hand. I've done a lot of naughty things in my life, but passing bugus money isn't one of them.
Yes, just showed up this AM> Mintages of this medal are as follows: Brilliant bronze, no serial number: 90. Brilliant bronze, 3-digit serial number: 110. Brilliant silver, 1st issue without "II": 102. Brilliant silver, 2nd issue with "II" counter-stamp: 75. Antiqued silver, 2nd issue with "II" counter-stamp: 26. Non-PVC "filp" holder. Note: These are not issued with any sort of certificate. NOTE: These medals were first offered to club members only. Now that all club members have had a chance to get some, the remainders are now being offered to the general public. The obverse is a depiction of Longs Peak with the city of Longmont Colorado below. The reverse shows a portion of the Colorado state flag behind a Colorado state quarter (with "Boulder County" banner and "2005" date).
Thought they looked Carr-ish even aside the Colorado theme @dcarr strikes again! (Get it, "strikes again" lol)
I don't claim to be an expert on Liberty Nickels although I have a lot in a wide range of grades and have read quite a bit about them. If these are cast copies they are very good ones. It's hard to tell from the pictures how much luster they if any. The obverse looks very nice to me and the reverse looks like it may have a slightly weak strike which is common with the harder nickel coinage. Not that I promote selling fake coins I would gladly give you $5 for one so that I could see it in hand and study it. The shield nickels are of concern as I can't see any lines on the shield in your pictures but the denticles look pretty sharp. Again it could just be the photo or the lighting but don't look right. Also from your avatar I believe you are retired air force and if that is the case Thank You for your service and sacrifice to our great country.
