    Check edges...
    If you can see steel..A-OK...if they are zinc color, they've been dipped.

    Replated steel cent are usually bright and shiny/reflective. Your coin looks to have
    some rust spots showing through on both faces of the coin, which makes me think it has not been replated.
    J.T. is correct about the edges not being plated on original surface coins.

    thanks everyone i never knew to check the sides. it has some rust so it is not plated.
