Peace dollar, 1924, Vam 1w? Weird black streak?!?!

Wondering if others think this is a Vam 1w as well. And, this Black streak may be a planchet error but it might also be PMD. I'll be happy to hear some thoughts. Thank you.

I'm not so hot at the VAMs... I'll leave that one to the experts. Is the black mark incuse or is the surface of the coin level all over? Looking at the rim and the 4 in the date I am leaning some kind of PMD, but its hard to tell from a pic though.

I'm over 50% in agreement with ya @SensibleSal66... I still wanna know if its incuse or not. I'll give a small chance of a lamination here.

Like I had just posted to Sal when you logged back in... I am leaning towards PMD for it, the rim is just really beat up in that spot. The shape of it just looks enough like a lamination that I'm not willing to say 100% all damage. Unfortunately we're going to have to wait for people with even more experience to wander in and give an opinion.

Yeah the rim is also dented, I added some more pics of the damage, and of others want to see the VAM details I could add more later. Thank you!

 

Nah, I think we're just pulling up by the door and waiting for them to bring out the big macs....

 

@Rllsroyce and if nothing else thanks for the chance to find out how my skills are here. I know some, but this site has members with sooooooo much more knowledge than I do.

 

I'll take a Doubled QP with cheese/ Fries. No darn drink. No condiments. They charge now for that crap.

 

Planchet error honestly you can still see the 4 but it's all messed up, wait then that sounds like PMD :/

Looks like a magic marker to me. I’m with PMD due to the rim.
