Sometime last night I received my 53,000th like. Not Ute from whom as I have a lot of messages but thank you one and all for this impressive number. In honor of this occasion I am posting a 1903-S Barber Dime. It’s only in good condition but so it most of my set. I’m down to needed just 2 and I will have a full set. Yes, I am on the hunt for them. The 1903-S Barber Dime had a low mintage with only 613,300 being minted. It is a semi-key, worn but in nice shape. My set is a lower grade set but I’m okay with that. At least I will soon have a complete Barber Dime set. Lol This Dime was minted from 1892 to 1916, when it was replaced by the Mercury or Winged Liberty Dime. It was designed by Charles E. Barber, the chief engraver of the Mint. His initial B is located at the neck. This design was also used on Quarters and Half Dollars.
Thanks but they are the toughest ones to find. And they are not cheap. I need the 1895-O and the 1896-S. The 1895-O is a $500 coin in good condition at best.
@Collecting Nut Nice job on the Dime set. I have all but a few and they are, like yours, working coins. My claim to fame is that I have a complete set of dimes from 1900 to 2021.
I will put some thought into that and see what I can do. They are all in albums except the 16D which is the only set coin I have in a slab.
I have 2 circulation albums of Mercury Dimes. I have low grade 1916-D’s to fill the holes. I just don’t like a hole in the folder.
I have one filled, and it has a low grade 1916-D. I don't like "holes", either. But, I collect circulated coins, anyway, so, my 1916-D is "leading the pack" in making it's way around the country, lol. The same for my 1877 IHC. But, I'm very happy to have them. They "complete" my collections of circulated coins. I'm very happy for those of you that can have collections of high grade, uncirculated coins. I'm glad you do, and thank you when you post them, I enjoy seeing them, but, I'm not jealous of you, I'm happy for you and I'm happy for me. You've got what you want (I hope) and I've got what I want. I'll upgrade a coin, if I can, but if I never get the opportunity, I'm happy! I know, I'm different, but I'm still happy, lol! Thank you sir. It’s nice to have you as a CT friend as well. Just so you know, I do have a number of high grade coins but I really like the circulation sets. Some coins were meant to be enjoyed more as having worked for a living.
@kountryken I am with you. My sets are circulated, working coins. I started in 1948 when everything was still available in circulation. The only upgrades I make is if I find a better coin in circulation or in a coin roll hunt.
