Hey everyone! I thought that I would name this theme " Wicked Wheatback Wednesday".
Please post yours too. Any coin with a wheat back reverse. ;)
This is just two of my favorite Wheatback 1 cent coins.

    I would…if I could. But I can’t.

All my U.S. cents belong to my two adult sons. I started divesting my collection to them 3 years ago and now they reside with the next generation.

Also all my nickels and dimes as well, and most of all quarters. The only coins I have in my safe are circulation State quarters and Morgans and Peace that I aim to finish running VAMs on. My current project is dividing about 2000 foreign coins to give them.

But now that I’ve squealed like a Razorback Hog over excuses, I’ll see what I can come up with…later today…promise…pinky swear…Spark

Here is a 1909 "Plain" Lincoln Cent in Matte Proof 65 R&B. I wish it were the 1909-VDB in Proof, but that coin is scarce, and it has been more expensive because one person was able to come close to cornering the market.

The reported mintage for this piece is 2,618.

Here is a 1909-VDB in MS-65, Red. When I started my business as a dealer in 1995, these pieces were available at the shows for $10 each. Now the Grey Sheet, dealer wholesale price, is $175.

And here is a 1909-S-VDB. This was last coin I needed to finish my "boyhood collection of Lincoln cents," at least until the mid 1960s. The Lincoln cent set was not a top priority with me. I was over 30 when I finished it! I have not kept up with them. I bought this circa 1982. It had ANACS papers with it then, and was graded "VF-20." Today it's in an NGC EF-40 holder, which actually the correct grade.

Here is my wheatback with a partial collar. The picture kind of makes it look like there is a depression in the center of the edge, but the "high" edge is just on one side of the edge, and it goes all the way around.
