I am a newbie here, but been collecting coins and tokens for 40 years. I have looked through many books, and websites, and cannot find one like this. I CAN find coins with one or the other sides showing, but not one with these particular sides together. Mussolini 1943 on one side, and 2 Lire 1924 on the other. It has a plain edge. Could this be some kind of error coin, fantasy coin, etc? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
Fantasy issue; there are no coins depicting Mussolini. The actual coin shows king Vittorio Emanuele III and looks like this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1s9oGVvPV.../dRiiMG1L2Y0/s1600/Italie_2+Lires_1924_Ni.jpg Most of these - also with other denominations - were produced around 1970. Christian
It's not a coin intended for circulation. As stated it was just a fantasy issue. I have a similar one Italy - 1943 20 Lire - Exonumia Token - Fantasy Medal (Very Interesting) https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces5491.html
Hi, the poster you are questioning made only that 1 post 10 years ago and has never been seen since. The correct answer is either side of your post. Welcome to CT.
I have the exact coin he was talking about. Is there a way to post a video of me holding the coin and flipping it to show it has two different coins that should not be.
Non Va bene. LOL. I'm not that familiar with this coin. What do you have and what should it be like?? Lo Sai?
it is weird coin or something. on the front is 1943 Mussolini wearing a helmet. which is supposed to have 20 lire on the back. the back is a 1924 2 lire. which is supposed to Vittorio Emanuel on the front. I'm confused. the original poster in this thread seems to have the same coin. so now i know there is another one. just wish i i knew a little more. It was my grandfathers on my mothers side and supposedly he was a Mussolini supporter or as my father said a fascist
Well, I tried but exhausted my efforts obviously. This is what I would do : Post this coin in the World Coin Section and by sometime tomorrow someone will have your answers. I bet. If you need anymore help, then just ask.
Thank you. I appreciate your help. have a great night. If I get some answers. I will post them here for others.
From your pics, it looks like the 2 lire coin is inset into the Obverse. It's like a magician's coin, except one is inset into the shell of the other.
