Here's a Bennington Battle Medal from Vermont. Fay's Tavern, which appears on the reverse, was proposed as the reverse design from the Vermont commemorative half dollar. Ultimately they put the cat on it, which goes over the head of most people. It was symbolic of the Catamount Tavern. This was the placed when Ethan Allan and the Green Mountain Boys downed a few and decided what they wanted to do to the British next. Story was one of the Green Mountain Boys, killed a wild cat, had it stuffed and used for the tavern's sign.
