A 1950 PF64 Washington I was pleasantly surprised with. Part of a project to assemble a "homemade" '50 proof set. Already done that with 1942. Last year before WWII and the year of resumption.

I am taking donations to do the 1936 proof set.:woot:

Where can I find a non-overpriced 1851-O half dollar? I look on Ebay and they are priced at like $250 for G examples, five times as much as they should go for according to price guide. I can understand market > price guide in some cases, like 1863-67 S half dimes and dimes, but something like this is ridiculous.

Just to prove my point http://www.ebay.com/sch/Coins-US/253/i.html?LH_BIN=1&_from=R40&_nkw=1851+o+half+dollar&_sop=15

In some sales from the big auction houses, I have seen eye-popping bidding on totally worn-out coins. I guess the assembling of low-ball sets is behind it. What the markets demand, the sellers will get, price guides or not.

I know, but I was looking for a place to get an 1851-O half dollar that's isn't overpriced to death.

No worries, just wait until Hugh posts again and we'll all be in the same boat.

No kidding, he once posted an 1843 proof quarter valued at $120000 according to PCGS.

Here are 2 Morgans that one of my favorite dealers had a special on. The obverse pictures could be better. 84o 1-horz.jpg 86 1-horz.jpg

    Nice!
1884-O could be a Vam dealer should have asked for details. But not a Expert.

Not a huge fan of graded eagles but I couldn't resist the price. And a cool book too.

I didn't buy this because it was missing pages from the back and really was just a book length spreadsheet but it was cool to see. Year ending June 1863, printed in 1864.
