Kind of ticked off two auctions i put up for MS66 hald follars from NTC & HCGS were cancelled by ebay & the reason was conterfeit coins. To say I am ticked off is putting it nicely. I could not put in a grade, so I put NTC Sixty Six in the title.

    thanks

You broke their listings rules and it was removed there's nothing for you to be mad about.

Its a real coin and it does have a grade, no need for them to call it counterfeit. in reading about both grading services, i see they overgrade & I do agree these coins do not look good. I bought them 20 years ago or so. Not sure if they are even worth sending somewhere else to put a grade on them?

list them as uncertified and cover the grades in the listing pics, ebay should allow that.

They are not graded by an approved grading service. Some guy put them in a self-slab holder and wrote a random (read: high) number on the label. I’d crack them out and sell them raw.

I would leave the coins in the slabs and sell them as is.

Someone may want the slabs to complete their collection.

The NTC coin I will assumed is a cleaned Unc. The other coins looks XF. Sell them as raw coins and take better pictures to convince buyers that they're better than I think they are.

The only allowed grading companies to be displayed are PCGS, NGC, ANACS and ICG.

No doubt, they look legit but you can't list a generic grade on your own like that. I think that's what the problem was, they may not have used the correct verbiage is all. better luck next time! ;)

OP why post these on ebay? After fees and all you don't get much back. Just sell it on Cointalk for free geesh

I have no idea even when i bought them! I had a ton of coins i did nothing with for over a decade. When the covid krap came, i figured i would see what the heck i had and opend the box of them. I did have some silver dollars plastic crack and left a black edge on some nice dollars, is there any way to fix that and will it hurt it if i try to grade them?

I know I am resurrecting this thread, but I always thought that Hallmark was the predecessor to PCI and used the same slabs and labels.

    This is the key.
Someone probably flagged it and it got on eBay radar.
Otherwise lots of things slide by.
I had a set of practice grenades that got flagged 3 times and removed by eBay.
I complained all 3 times siting that eBay has sold them before and currently has one listed.

I finally put in my listing that if you want these hit the BIN button before someone else gets offended and eBay pulls my listing :D

Edited to add, sell them here in the CT classified.

There have been three grading services named HALLMARK. The first was a currency grading service from the early 80's. Strange holders that actually had holes in them so the paper could "breathe". The second was the company partially owned by Q David Bowers that eventually sold there slab shell design to PCI. The third was a basement slabber that produced the slabs shown earlier in the thread. From the slab style and the use of the gold labels for sealing they may have been associated somehow with SGS (Star Grading Service AKA Abon coins)

So then, these coins were sentenced to ExAcutions by eBay.

    Justice served.....
