2023 Peace dollar

Is the proof version out as well or just the uncirculated? I need a proof Peace dollar for my 20th century type set.

Proofs come out Aug 9. Easiest way to get them is to sign up for a subscritption.

Proof Morgan and Peace subscriptions are available. Just make sure your first shipment is the 2023 version. The uncirculated subscriptions begin in 2024.

 

Agree completely. I reluctantly got the Morgan also. The Peace dollar is a more attractive copy of the original. The Morgan is a bad copy of the 1921 Morgan, which is generally looked down upon by Morgan enthusiasts.

 

Gonna have to 'splain, Dave.........where did they go wrong with the Morgan?

 

Not speaking for Dave, buy my main complaint is the surface finish and the font they used for the date. Having the date look more like the original and having a brilliant cartwheel finish instead of the subdued satin finish would have made a huge difference in appearance.

 

Just saw some "Advanced Release" issues on our favorite coin salesman's show. lol. The coins look great! Can't wait to get these from the mint this week.

 

Easy peazy. It is a third generation Morgan— basically a copy of the 1921, which was a copy of the original. So, it does not bear that much resemblance to the original. It is a knock off of the Morgan series. When the 1921 came out, it was considered a bad looking representation of the original. So, fast forward 100 years, and there is a bad looking copy of the copy.

 

I hear, and understand, but quite frankly they all look the same to me. Guess I'm just lacking that discerning eye.

 

Received my 2023 BU Peace Dollars from the mint - all have marks. Good news was that the subscription method worked. Bad news is that I don't want to keep any of them. I honestly didn't really care too much about this product, but if I got a nice one, I would have kept one for myself.

Learned today that my subscription for the 2023 Proof Peace Dollars, placed literally as soon as you could place them, has been backordered, not fulfilled. Called customer service and they could give zero explanation for why it's not fulfilled (whether they have had issues making the full mintage or if I'm just potentially going to get someone's rejects when available.) Bad news is that I really, really did want a Proof Peace Dollar. Further bad news is that I now know I can't trust the subscription method. I don't want to spend hours fighting their awful website and doing endless CAPTCHAs only to have to restart the entire process over and over again...so...

Let it be known - I am officially out on any future US Mint product purchases, and I've cancelled all future product subscriptions. I'm done. Let Home Shopping Network buy it all, and maybe someday down the road I'll find one at a reasonable price - if I like it. I'll take my time and money to people/businesses that earn my trust and follow through with their promises.

Extremely, extremely disappointed.

 

Welcome to the club, albeit just a little late

 

Well, I am really working on not making rash decisions (as well as decisions made while I'm frustrated) so I figured I'd give them one final chance this year with my three subscriptions - especially since I really, really wanted the Proof/Reverse Proof Peace Dollars. But here we are again, with the same old, same old...incompetence (intentional or not), lack of accountability, indifference.

Like a bad relationship where you are pretty much at the stage where you've already made the decision to leave...but you are just waiting for that final straw to confirm your choice. So now, officially done. I'm sure one of each will pop up at some time here at the shop, or at a show, etc. Probably wait to get one that's a graded 70, or at least a raw one without any imperfections.

 

I ordered one of the Proofs. I learned during my research for an exhibit of the 1936 Proof set that a 1936 Proof Peace Dollar would have been issued if the coin had been made for regular circulation that year. Unfortunately it wasn't so there were no 1936 Proof Peace Dollars.

 

My Proof Peace $ has shipped, but the Morgan is still processing.
As of 4:30 PM eastern both are still available.

 

Yup, guess the popularity wore off. Both proofs are still available as of 7:30 est.

I wrote a letter to the Director of the US Mint to voice my disappointment with their website functionality as well as the quality control of their products. Mailed it to the contact address on their website.

My letter was returned, insufficient address (I typed it in exactly as it is on their website.)

EVEN THEIR MAILING ADDRESS DOESN'T WORK.
