I'd never seen that 1956 Mexican 50c type at the bottom of Post #1. Those all look pretty handsome- I particularly like the wholesome circ look of the Belgian.
@Hiddendragon Nice group. I especially like the French 5 franc - nice surface VF/EF. They are a mainstay of the world crown collection.
Nice coins 'HiddenD', I collect U.S. primarily but have a Dansco #7220 Mexican Type set I continually upgrade on occasion. I bought the same (complete) book years ago for $220 but had to sell when times were lean. Now with a bit of 're-placement therapy' . Same kind of collecting dynamics & my Mex. 50 Peso set. When in my teens a friend showed me a gold 50 peso his father had found in a suit brought in for cleaning. Their family owned dry cleaner business & the suit's owner never returned for the suit or the gold piece. I promised at that time if I had the chance, I would have one of those coins! Voila`the complete set, J.T.
I have a really big Mexican collection but I always buy them if they're in good condition at a good price. A lot of mine need upgrades because when I assembled the set I was looking to complete it affordably, so I have some lower grade coins. Now I'd like to upgrade so I can show it off.
Yes! You sound to be more serious about your Mexican collection. For me it comes in 'fits & spurts'..I'll go for perhaps half a year and then break out the Dansco and decide to upgrade this our that piece. I've probably spent several 100$ on upgrades, since I replaced the collection in 2020 for $700 A really lazy way of collecting, I admit, but enjoyable w/ no pressure. J.T.
That's a really good price for a nice chunk of historical silver. I'll buy them for the type set whenever I can for those prices.
