Paddyman is saying the reverse was exposed to conditions to cause unusual toning to the reverse and that the reverse clad is in fact, not missing. We often see specimens where the opposite side appears different and often, copper like. If we were to see the edge of your coin and had the weight we could be more certain of what you have there. It is a date with known missing reverse clad.
Perhaps it's the light. If I can't find the pic where it was on the scale with better lighting I'll take new pics but this is my original thread https://www.cointalk.com/threads/19...lad-found-in-cash-drawer.270092/#post-2262558
I know what he meant just saying huh because he was one of the first to respond to the original post of this coin saying it's legit. I get it lousy pics get poor responses. I'll see what I can do lol
Probably.. My apologies. I've been dealing with some legal stuff concerning a new home that I have inherited. My mind is overwhelmed I remember that Quarter now. Ok. To me the grade is not important. It's the spectacular mint error! Thanks for sharing
The best way for members to help other members is by providing the basics with their specimens. Full obverse and reverse shots. Edge shots, especially with errors of this type. Weight, date, attribution suspected too. Sometimes a side-by-side is helpful showing the specimen by a control. Oftentimes a single blurry photo is offered. Understandably, folks may be excited and moving fast. But a little patience goes a long way. Members here are equally excited and ready to help. But they do better when the OP does better too.
But I made a mistake. He has shown the Quarter in question before and it was determined that it was missing clad on reverse. Sorry
I changed my mind. It is missing clad. He had shared this Quarter before on another thread. This thread had a bad picture.
I figured you might. I was noticing the Verdi on the specimen and was leaning authentic. I knew the additional information would tip you back in the right direction. Don’t worry…I’ll still go metal detecting with you!
I couldn't find the pics I took that turned out really good so had to take new ones. Still not the greatest but better than the other one.
