Saw an ad on Craigslist for an Estate sale at a "Hot Rod" shop that mentioned...coins. Didn't get there till they had been open an hour or so, but they did have a table with COINS...really. I don't think anyone else had looked at them. the first box was a bunch of 70's and 80's nickels in dimes, both in cardboard 2x2's and just loose. The seller said they were his dad's (the seller looked to be in his 70's+). He asked if I had an interest in foreign and brought out a small box. Most of them were in window envelopes with the country written on the envelope. I shook out the loose ones from the bottom and picked these out! Asked how much and he questioningly said $10, so this is what I got.

The pesos really look like silver plated with the silver peeling off, although I think it is supposed to be a 10% alloy.

I’m not good at foreign but I believe the Mexican pesos have some silver in them.

    Nice find.

As toilet bowl guy says, those are 10% silver pesos. The one I have is the very first coin I collected when I was a kid.

I always think of my grandmother when I see those old peso's. She gave me some when I was a coin addicted kid...... You made bank on that deal at ten bucks. Way to go! Over the years I knew a fellow that bought abandoned storage buildings and would bring me the coins he found in them. I haven't seen that fellow for a while now... I need to give him a buzz.

I find coins in the Coilstar Machine, in my daily change, in quarter changer machines and sometimes on the ground.
