It looks like the head of an oryx(?) There are bullion coins with oryx heads on them. Yeah, really bad photo....

Brilliant Dave! I think that's it. Thanks so much for you guys help. I was watching an auction site in S.A. that was auctioning 3 lbs. of old coins, I was able to spot 3 silver coins just on top of the pile, the bids were low for awhile then they just went crazy bidding like mad, and I could not figure out why. Looked at the image again and noticed the gold looking coin, and wondered if it was a real gold coin, which it does not appear to be. thank again for the help guys
