I lived in Northern WI for 10 years. Snow to my waist every winter, and snow from Oct to April/May. Nope. If I lived there, I would have no problem going to FL in January... Been to NYC many many times. Still, FL looks good for January... :)

    The best shows:

    NYINC
    FUN
Baltimore (Fall, the summer show is meh)
    The big ANA shows
Used to be CICF, but it was so horribly mismanaged the past two years that Berk had to start a new show. It should be great, starting next year.
In Europe: Numismata in Munich and the one in Berlin and Coinex in London.

With the Waldorf Astoria being converted to condos I wonder if the NYINC will have to move?

The best show is the one you find filled with dealers selling the coins you like. Shows that charge more than Baltimore for a table, tend to attract dealers who sell coins 'over my head' so I do better at smaller shows closer to home. If I spend an average of $1k at a show but have to spend half of that getting there and other expenses, the coins suffer. If you spend $10k at a show the percentages are tipped to the larger show's favor.

This is exactly why I am not going to Baltimore this weekend. The big time US guys that run the local club don't sponsor the bus I like to ride up there because they see the 'meh' so going would mean a 3 hour drive each way and a big parking bill. They see a 'meh' show; I see a show with lower attendance and fewer high end dealers I don't buy from anyway. The dealers I like will be there selling my 'meh' coins to JA. I hope you came home having converted all your dollars into denarii.

My understanding is that there will be very few ancients dealers...

As long as the NYINC stays in Manhattan, I don't see a problem for most New Yorkers to addend. Its when they start looking into Brooklyn, and the Bronx, thats when it starts causing attendance to drop.
