Crack it out of the holder and that modern would only be worth $20 max :)

Even if he decides to take the money and run you should still take the week off. I think I might also do the same.

Such a hard question to answer. As we all know the 'ups and downs' of prices.
What I mean is, what would happen if a few more pop up with the same grade.
That's a tough call. Ya never know what's going to happen with this great hobby.
It's a 'flip of the coin' for this one. Pun intended.
    Good luck with your decision.

I agree with the rest of the group. There are bound to be more that end up getting graded a 68 (or even worse, a 69). Before long, it won't be a top pop and the value will drop. Dump it now while the price is high. Buy a MS67 if you want for 10% the money and spend the rest on something awesome.

Me, I figure that guy has too much money. I would counter with $2500.
Your dealer is making money on it and he knows how to say " The seller wants $3000.00.
If the buyer says no, sell it at $2000.
Think of all the real coins you could own with that money.
Get it gone though in a hurry!

I'd take the profit, in a heartbeat. If you hold it and no more 68s or higher surface for a while the price may rise, but what's the total mintage? I'd say the odds of more 68s coming along are pretty high, and when it happens the price will crash.

Well, the consensus seems to adequately answer this, however, the contrarian in me says ho...no, no, no...SELL!!!! ...& don't counter offer, just take the gains & live to fight another day! Sheesh....:D:joyful::jawdrop:!

You know the difference between knowledge & wisdom? Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to use it in a fruit salad! You have the knowledge...do you have the wisdom???

We presume you will let us know!

I think you should do whatever makes you happy. If you like the coin that much then keep it. I think it is a fairly safe bet that this value won't hold. How much it will drop is anyone's guess.

So, if your priority is to maximize money...sell now. If that's not the biggest concern then don't.

I just checked, the US Mint is still selling these sets. Just might be other very nice coins that are still in packaging.

It’s a modern coin. That should say it all. SELL, SELL, SELL!!! And do it before he changes his mind.

I was just saying, ask for $2500 because anyone who would fork out $2000 for a clad modern high graded slabbed quarter must have a lot of money to throw around. The buyer probably is terribly rich.
The middle man, dealer is not doing this for fun. He is also already asking more than $2000.
Maybe even $2500 himself? He'll make $500 just for the finder fee. Maybe less but the buyer WANTS that coin. Prestiege means more than money to him. So I would be quick, personally, and ask for more.
Why not, it's no skin off the buyers nose.
If it ends up being a no go, then dump it fast and take the $2000.
I would be up front with the dealer about this, who is the middle man, and let him do the deal. Git r done. This deal won't be around long.
