I thought the US mint did a good job with the 100 year commemorative reverses for these. Cool find.

Oh no.... Those were released for circulation. People grabbed them up about as quick as they were released so you don't see them out very often at all.... It was a commemorative for the 100th year of minting Lincoln Cents. They were released at different times during the year as I recall and each was a different depiction of Lincoln's life.

Oh, yeah, they circulated. I got quite a few in 2009-2010. But people also saved them more than other cents, and they are Zincolns, so most of them will spoil over time.

There were special sets struck in copper, but the zinc versions were put into circulation in droves.

@Chris lefave, you're not alone in this. I've also recently came across these commemorative pennies as well. I have a jug full of pennies that have remained unopened for almost 10 years, and a couple shiny ones caught my attention. Out of curiosity, I turned them over and saw a few Lincoln commemorative images. One day, I'm going have to sit down and wade through my jug of pennies to sort out the good ones from the meh ones.

Who knows, there may be some interest in these types of pennies in the future. Customers are fickle when it comes to driving demand and supply in determining which coins are hot and others are not so hot. Regardless, I'm going to be saving those pretty MS circulated pennies. The other day, one penny from my pile had a suspicious proof appearance, so I've put that one aside in a special sealed container for newly discovered special coins such as the Delaware-D quarter etc.

Would the those Zincolns be preserved if they were placed in 2 x 2 packets?

I'm sure those for circulation were Zincolns, proofs were made the old time mix (95% copper and 5% tin/ zinc) with authorzaion from congress.

I saved a number of these when they were first minted. Let me try to get a photo.
My old house the coin photos were excellent. The new house I don't understand it.

Granddaughter’s favorite year. Your coins look good. I save them all. But most of the found 2009 these days don’t look so good. You did well

Yeah. I want a copper set. Didn’t start saving coins till 2010 dollars I think. Didn’t even know about the 2009 cents till well after. They were great fun for me. And a bunch of members sent me all kinds of cents. This gromm member even sent 2009 dimes. You members are kind and great. Abe rules

You only need to find the fourth one to have all 4 of them. I have rolls of them but they also made them for sets. Here’s one of my sets. They toned beautifully.
