    LordM Giveaway #99 (Mystery Prize)

    Contest status: CLOSED
    Drawing (@Evan Saltis won)
    Shipped August 21, 2023
    Winner's notice of receipt

    ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The prize for this contest will be a mystery at first. As of this writing, not even I know what it will be! I will be visiting my friend's shop, WNC Coins, in western North Carolina, and there I will purchase a prize item worth between $35 and $50 USD. Then we'll have the drawing for it when I get home.

    Update: prize revealed here.

To enter: Just mention some things you might like to see as a $35-50 prize, broadly speaking. A US coin? A nice proof set? A nice World coin, maybe slabbed? Old? Modern? Silver? Ancient? Just throw out some ideas. Of course none of us know what I will actually find once I get to the shop, but in the meantime, it'll be fun to see what ideas you have.

The random drawing will be held on or shortly after Monday, August 21, 2023.

Totally free: the contest is free of charge, open to everyone, with free worldwide shipping. The only thing I ask is that you do please post to this thread later, when you have received the prize, so that we'll know you got it (that helps me keep track).

    Good luck!

    Numismatic regards,

    ~Robertson ("Rob") Shinnick ("LordM")

Rob, I'm definitely feeling U.S. coinage as we approach Labor Day.
And I think a nice looking 1909 V.D.B. would fall into your criteria. It certainly would mine.

Thank you for your incredible generosity. Knocking on the door of 100 Giveaways. That's unbelievable!

Teaser: two gold coins for Giveaway #100! Later. ;)

Thanks for the specific idea on this one. I'll read all y'all's suggestions during the trip and see what I find at the coin shop.

Very generous of you, and good luck to all who enter. Aside from Ancients, my collection of World and US coins is very diverse. Therefore whatever you pick will be a pleasant surprise if my number is chosen.

LordM, your generosity is only exceeded by your charm and wisdom. Thank you for all you do for our hobby and this website. My idea would be for a nice world crown size coin. Beautiful design, a nice hunk of silver and history all combined. I think that would be welcomed in anyone's collection, especially mine.

Excellent suggestion. Let’s see what Michael has in the shop when I get there!

How bout a large cent? Don't believe I have seen many large cents cross the contest forum.

Another excellent suggestion, and one that might be quite doable. In fact, I have an 1816 cent in my future giveaway stash at home, but it’s only AG-G-ish. We can perhaps do better at the shop.

Something different and odd and since your in NC how about a silver fish scale or a civil war token perhaps.

Entry Post - I love the design and art that is South American mid-century coinage. Silver or gold, no matter, they are just so well done.

Perhaps a Hard Times Token. We're appreciative of all the prizes you offer.

I think a cool large cent would be nice. I like them, but usually have trouble justifying the price since I can get Morgans for the same price on occasion.
