Is my 1953D wheat penny worth anything? I saw on You Tube where these pennies that are in decent condition could be worth a little money because there were problems with the minting process that year.
Looks AU to maybe Low MS. Not worth a whole bunch. https://www.numismedia.com/rarecoin...200&guide=prices&guide2=pricesms&proof=&plus=
Youtube has a lot of sensational coin videos - I wouldn't go there for coin advice. I know someone that sends me videos all the time, with outrageous titles and silly claims. Like "Check your change - a 1945-S nickel sold at auction for $11,000!" Like you're going to find a toned MS-68FS war nick in change. For example.
A very pretty coin. It’s nicer than most for that year. I’m guessing you could get less than a buck for it. But more fun to hold on to it and save it. Most members do!!
@Kim Marino …if you assign the coin AU58RD… …NumisMedia/FMV calculates out to be worth somewhere around 64.8 cents USD. Likewise, NGC calculates to $1.25 USD (always on the high side). Now, I see some evidence of circulation but I think its’ condition is AU58+. But calling it a RED might ruffle a few feathers as there is some field rubs and lapel disturbances that might mean it could grade as RED BROWN. So…taking these variables into consideration this coin could honestly sell between 50 and 90 cents (IMO). But you’re not done yet. Now you have the daunting task of finding out the origination of the info you found on YouTube about the minting problems. Be sure to share what you find out…Spark
Thank you for this great I information. I will go back to YouTube to try and find the posting about the minting problems for this year.
The daunting task is finding a buyer and a forum that doesn't charge fees exceeding your 50 to 90 cents.
Yep. I recently went through some high-quality wheat rolls, and found a lot of MS Red items from the 40s and 50s. They were fun to find and fun to have, but surprisingly aren't worth all that much.
