Hello everybody, as I was going through cent rolls from the bank, this immediately caught my eye. Never seen a cud before, only in pictures. But which one is this? The 03 or 04?
A cud can occur in any denomination. A cud is formed by part of the die breaking away but it must touch the rim to be considered a cud. More cuds seem to be produced on cents as cents are produced more than any other denomination.
Here are two that I have. Cud can show up in any position involving the rim. These are the only ones I ever found in the wild. I guess I was doing some CRH in the 80's.
Cud’s are considered common and only worth a few dollars at best. The bigger the cud and how much of the design it covers will raise the value.
Of course, higher denominations are worth more. This is worth.... "What someone is willing to pay". This is my Double cud that I got for Free!
