    Here's a 1909S, VDB that I found metal detecting. Held up pretty good considering it was in the soil. I got it conserved, graded and slabbed. Great detail on the spots without corrosion.

    How much luck do you guys have detecting, I've always wanted to buy one but am afraid I'd get skunked and discouraged the first few times, and end up selling the detector for a fraction of what it cost me

    Yeah thatd b good, I've always wanted to check some old historical sites around town. My backyard as well, when I was a kid I found a buff nickel sticking out of the dirt, lost it years ago though :depressed:

    @Mad Stax - Yes, historical sites would be great. Be careful it's not private property and fill in the holes you dig. :D
