I have a 1903 V-nickel where the front and reverse are facing the same direction (upright). My other V-nickels, when you rotate them around - the reverse is upside down. Is this common for the 1903? Thanks, Dan
Rotated die, instead of proper coin alignment, one die loosened and rotated 180 degrees. Not uncommon but a keeper.
I googled "rotated die coin values" and found a lot of information, too much to note here, that I'm sure you would find informative.
Rotated-die coins can be worth a good bit. I bought a lot of MS 1923 Peace dollars years ago and noticed that on two of them it looked like the eagle was lying down! I recall selling them for something like $25 apiece at a time when the standard variety was worth about $6.
