Metal Detecting - 1873 CINCO CENTAVOS - A surprise find!

I did a quick 3 hour Metal Detecting hunt on Sunday 7/30/2023 at a local park in the Bronx.
to my surprise I detected an 1873 Colombia Cinco Centavos (5 cents)

It is well worn but there is enough lettering and numbers to ID the coin



This is what it supposed to look like -

Everything else


Moment it was found


I sent a picture to my detecting friends at the time I found it and one of the guys was able to ID the coin. This was the info he sent me of the same coin offered on eBay -

Great find. Minted in Bogota with a condor reverse and just 89,000 struck in .666 Silver.

 

Gee, that is pretty old with a low mintage. Nice find.

 

I was trying to read it as 999, and wondering what the apostrophe-O was about -- Hawaiian influence?

 

Must be close to home heritage week for you, nice.

 

I’m sure that was a great and pleasing surprise for you. Maybe you need to go back and spend more time there.
