I just started to go through some old foreign coins I won recently at auction, found this one. Any help identifying it? (sorry 20230730_093605.jpg 20230730_093618.jpg
(sorry, the pics are kind of crazy close) Thanks.

I should note, this wasn't a coin auction. Just regular stuff-- this was mixed in with some coins from the 50's and some tokens, in a small box.

...and the second surprise is... it's not really worth much! (I just looked it up) Amazing.

    It’s dated 1833 so it’s a great find.

Yes. 1633. The year of the trial of Galileo.

Neat coin! My double tournois. German county of
    Lowenstein-Wertheim-Rochefort dated the same year!

Yours looks a little bit nicer! But yeah, it's an amazing thing to consider... something owned, used, by so many people, through the years, starting so long ago. Actually, by the looks of it, I think mine has probably been owned, handled, used, by lots more people!

Yours looks a tiny bit nicer! But while mine was out in the world working hard and being useful, yours was hiding out and resting somewhere! ;)

Could be. It's still only VF... But an interesting coin. With these, the legends are usually the key to identification. I sometimes buy random bulk world coins and I love shifting through them. I've found plenty of cool stuff.
