These dimes were storage separately from the rest of my dad's collection. They all look to be mint but from the PCGS site, they don't look to be of much value until they get to at least MS64 and not worth grading until at least MS67. Some look like they may have full bars. A few look to be in the MS66 or higher range to me from looking at the PCGS pictures but I don't really have the experience, it sounds like. There are 14 so I'll post picts a handful at a time. #1 #2 #3 #4 #5
Hello! They all seem about the same grade and that's not close too an MS67. MS62-MS65 maybe. The top ones being in the best condition. Just my 2 cents! Thanks for sharing.
Nice Dimes!! I agree they would need to be 67 and up. I am no expert grader, but they do look to have full bands. I'm sure some of the others will weigh in on them.
So if I am putting my pictures side by side with the PCGS photograde, how is the grade determine when the obverse and reverse don't line up best with the same grade? For example, on #1, when I compare the obverse, mine doesn't quite have the level of detail in the strike so I can see how that would be about an MS63. However on the reverse, to me, it looks better than the one of the pictures shown for MS67 (due to it's much weaker strike on the E-P, ONE, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA than mine). So in that instance, do you average the two and say it is MS65 or is it the lowest side at MS63?
1962 was close to silver dimes being replaced by clad dimes. They never had a chance to really circulate so even thought they are nice looking they are only worth junk silver value. Believe it or not, I have found Dimes and Quarters in my junk silver buys that would grade MS-66. Just not worth the cost to deal with them.
