The finish on these seems funny.

I'm sure it's just the photo but it looks like pewter.

They (mint) use burnished coin blanks.....hence the funny/pewter like finish. Here's mine.....

Not saying it looks bad, just funny for a coin. Pewter-like is what I think I’m seeing, too. Lusterless, really.

Suffice to say it's different......no luster to speak of. At least not in the classical sense. I'm looking forward to the proofs and the reverse proofs.....thar ya be havin' some shiny luster me hearties. :)

The finish is definitely different from the originals, maybe even different from the 2021’s.

The mint certainly cannot make up for lost time. As far as I'm concerned 1921 has not be matched.

Well, you'd be having glass-like mirroring, in terms of reflection, no cartwheel luster.

I think that is a good way to put it. I personally don't care for how they look. A Morgan without cartwheel luster just seems wrong to me.

They don't even have the glass-like finish of a proof. There's the "life" in a proof. In a business strike, it's in the cartwheel luster. In these, you can't even rub off the "life," because there isn't any.

    I agree, the look lifeless.

The burnished finish is odd looking. I just bought one, despite my previously stated reservations. However, it looks nothing like the original Morgan series. I still consider it a commemorative, rather than any kind of series coin.
