Nice- what do mean by "find" ? did you find these in an expected area like grandma's dresser drawer ?
I wouldn't mind seeing a post of this whole collection (or accumulation). To best help your friend, I'd suggest separating these coins into 3 sets. 1) low value, face value, copper or clad coinage. The 64D nickels from the other post are here. Set them aside and worry about them later. Maybe they can make money here but it's a lot more effort for a lot less money. 2) Melt value coins. Many of the quarters above fit in here. Add 'em up and offer to pay melt to your friend. Or at least they can easily offload these most anywhere. 3) Numismatic value. Spend most of your time here. Get them in good flips or 2x2s, assign them grades and values. This is where the best return is, of course.
Thanks so much. I know I’m all over the place with them. Should I put them on Auction maybe? Some of them that grade pretty well?
Most of the value is in the silver. I've watched a dealer friend price collections and what he does is figure the value of the 1932-D and 1932-S individually and eyeball for any exceptional high grade (nothing you've shown so far meets that test) coins, proofs, etc. All the rest gets priced as Silver.
Yes.. thank you. Thank y’all. They have dimes of the 60s…. 64Ds that have different marking and possible DDO and DDR but as my teachers here tell me take my time and really study it. The mercury dimes are nice but not in the best of shape.
And your response was To laugh. You’re not a collector like I am and you know that. As a collector, you may see a coin and that coin just calls your name. When that happens, you have no choice, you must buy it. LOL It happened to me a number of times.
Check the 1919 Mercs. There is an DDO that wasn't discovered for almost 100 years. https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/detail/545047 Also check the 1942 for a 2/1 overdate. Both of these are valuable but could have been missed even of somebody was hunting.
Yes I read that. I need a magnifying glass for my magnifying glass lol. But yes I am looking close. Thank you!
Did I miss a post regarding the 1962 DDO? IGWT sure looks like it, and Pam took a close up, so must have had some questions about it. Maybe post better photos of just that quarter and post it separate to see what others think. Could just be the photo, but looked darn close.
