A waitress yesterday was kind enough to give me this one back in change. And yes I did leave her a nice tip.
I beleive I saw some pics somewhere of these doubled die's. There are more than one. It could have been in "errorscope" the monthly Coneca magazine. Nice find.
Chris I would say it would be about even money no points on either side. I would just hate to run into one of the hybrids they are talking about now, and interbreed mix, that would make one bad bear.
All I know is Wexler has a nice selection. I have a few more of different varieties that I really haven't gone through yet. That's next on the list.
My point is that any AK SQ found with a polar bear on it would not be the real thing. Granted, it could have been one of the proposed designs, but it certainly wasn't the one accepted by Congress. Chris
Chris I could be mistaken but I believe it said Alaska DDS I must've missed the ak SQ in there somewhere. Or maybe it meant exactly as it said, and yes Chris you're right the mint went with the other design as far as the AK SQ. So i believe that would give me the option to post any Alaska coin. And it just so happened my choice for this thread was the Alaska-Denali for my first coin choice. Chris collecting is supposed to be having fun in what you're doing. Take this next photo, I can easily say what are two things that makes this coin not appropriate for this thread.? Let's all just lighten up and have a little fun.
Yes, there are a lot of coins or medals that can be called Alaskan, but State Quarters and America the Beautiful Quarters can easily be confused unless they are identified by the subject. In this case, "Denali" would be the correct call. Wouldn't it? What should the following medal be called? Alaska? Yukon? Pacific? Or, maybe Seattle?
Chris when I was living in Seattle seen a lot of metals and tokens like this. From up and down the West Coast and even Canada. I get your point about your photo. In both tokens would not be suitable for this thread. They would do well on a token thread. And Chris you're right it's Alaska- denali coin. Keyword Alaska I like keeping my options open. This way if I want to show the 2008 it also would be appropriate on this thread. I'm sure everyone can distinguish between a grizzly bear and a mountain ram. (You think).
