Finally got another $1000 bag of Ikes to search today: I'll be having fun tonight when I go through them all!
Ah, yes, the elusive "hairpiece attached with chopsticks" Ike variety. Sure wish I could get those bags myself... although I don't know that I'd have the patience to deal with getting rid of the rejects.
Really? - all I see is a 1000 man bald convention! LOL! I'm sorry, but I never liked the Ike dollar coin, although I do like the reverse!
Maybe you're right. I guess I'm less skeptical about @vintagemintage then I am about Miss Angela. @Angi81 She's (or he's) hiding under her computer desk! https://www.cointalk.com/threads/my...t-was-1000s-of-old-and-odd-looking-co.280379/
Sweet!! I remember back when I was hunting bags of halves. I picked one up from the bank and saw silver edge after silver edge just looking out asking me to take them home. It was such a great feeling knowing you have a winner before even tearing the plastic bag open. Please let us know what you find!! I'm anxious as to how many 40% and if there is another 90% hiding in there.
Awesome find, what bank orders these for you? I've asked several and they can only get the small dollars.
Those Ikes can still sell for a small premium on Ebay. Anyway, nice find already with the Peace Dollar edger! Give us an update when you're done. There are some rare Ike varieties to look for, like the 72 Type 2.
I found a vault manager who knows where to get them and is willing to persevere when they're not available. Every other bank has told me it can't be done without trying, or tried only once or twice before giving up. It sometimes take her a while to find them but so far she's found me 4 bags and there's been good stuff in all of them.
Why would you think I did that? This is really no different than finding a Franklin in a box of halves or an IH cent in rolls.
