I'm still waiting on a package of coins from Israel. It's been over a month and nothing yet. It got me wondering, what's the longest you've ever waited on a coin package?

I'll be waiting until the 23rd, since about the 30th of June. But mine are coming direct delivery from friends, not mail carier.

Probably a customs hang up. Hang in there.

I've only bought coins from overseas once I believe. Actually, I think it was from Canada, so that doesn't count. Anyhow, it seems risky. I don't know how long shipping would take, but for domestic shipping I expect it in at least 1-2 weeks

I have sent many coins to the US from the UK. On one occasion the Royal Mail decided to put the package on a ship instead of by air, and then the US customs sat on it for ages. It was over 3 months before it arrived with the buyer by which time we had both written it off as lost and I had refunded him his money. He was good enough to let me know when it finally showed up and settle the bill. :)

I had a recent one (from Germany I believe) that took a month plus.
It was an eBay win and took long enough for that I had already filed an INR with eBay, won the case and got refunded.
When it finally arrived I used PayPal to send the seller the payment again.

Those are the kind of scenarios I'm afraid of and that deter me from shipping and buying over seas. I'll leave it up to the dealers at shows to bring me good coins from around the world :)

Unfortunately, then you would miss out on 95% of the opportunities to buy the coins for which you are looking. I have been both a buyer and a seller on eBay, and the area in which I 'specialize' is Canadian Colonial Tokens. About 30-40% of my market is in the USA, and the collectors there have only a small chance of anything turning up at any of the local coin shows.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

If they're really old coins from that area of the world, there's a chance that they're being checked for compliance with recent export restrictions. Just because they may not be covered by the restrictions, some bureaucrat somewhere still has to check them.

I once won a lot from Noble Numismatics (Australia) that showed up like six months later. So late that I requested a charge back since the firm ignored my inquiry. When it arrived, I sent it back to them.

I'm still waiting on a package of hammered coins I sent to NGC to be certified. The postmark on the package is May 19. I looked on the NGC site today and learned that they are on their way back to me. I was amazed that only 2 (out of 18) were details graded.

That's probably true. I often can't find things I'm looking for, but I find a million other things. I'm usually happy with my purchases and don't want to deal with shipping headaches

Six weeks on a Intl signed for package from Great Britain with a 20 quid from 1931, but it did surely arrive but apparently came over on a steamship.
