I've heard of half cents, but this is getting ridiculous... ;-)

The guy who gets the carts usually catches stuff at my local store now. I went in today and he was in the parking lot. I figured I wouldn't find anything. I was surprised. Today I got a silver dime, a wheat penny, and some kind of token that says SHIPs and has an outline of a sail boat. It's the same front and back.

At a Wegman's Coinstar, I found a Loonie, a Canadian quarter, a 1950 5 Franc coin from Belgium, and the best find, a 1949 Roosevelt.

So today I went and cashed in about 6 bottles, got the receipt and looked at the coinstar sitting in the corner, Found a newer Canadian quarter, a few American pennies, and a real nice shiny dime, 1963, Seems it is still kicking out silver coins
    Thank you Coin Star.

Stopped at a different supermarket in my quest for a ripe avocado... struck out there, but the Coinstar that's usually empty because it's very much in plain sight had a mini jackpot:

3 golden dollar coins (2000P x2, James Garfield)
    2 clad quarters
    1 Bahamas quarter
    1 clad dime
    1 modern nickel
    2 pennies
    ... and a 1954 (P) quarter. Second one in about a week!

Haven't found much in the past week in my coinstars... Did find a 64-D dime a week after my $2.25 jackpot find...

A long drought has broken, three zincolns, two dimes and a 1941 Jefferson. The others went in the donation box, the '41 came home to the old nickel retirement centre.

Had a crazy time at the coinstar today. I think it was broken. No silver, but:

$40.83 in common coins that shouldn'thave been rejected. I was there over a minute, as I scooped, more were coming down the slot that were stuck. Glad I had a grocery bag.
    Plus 3 modern foreign.

    That's a great score.
What in the heck are people thinking about while dropping coins.
That's a years worth at least.

Yeah, they were shorted 40 bucks. You'd think you would notice.

That's a lot of coins. I wonder if the Coinstar was malfunctioning.

Was the reject tray full and the coins kept falling as they were removed? Were you using the coinstar?

I wonder sometimes, when I find a large amount of coin in a coinstar, what are the people thinking that leave them there? I don't get it. Are the coins stolen and the thief just wants to get out of the store? Are people just dumber than I think and don't notice the coins hitting the tray or the multiple reminders to check for rejected coin? Don't stop... I like free money.
