I've been looking at this one quite a bit recently and considering having it regraded with my next NGC submission, mostly to be able to add it to my competitive set as it would have to jump considerably to really increase the value (about $20 per grade up to 63 then nearly doubles at 64 lol. But then I'm the 1st to admit I suck at grading gold for some reason, so I ask what you guys think :D

Nice coin, but difficult to grade from those images.

That coin is not mint state.

I agree. It has a rub in the fields which takes it out of the Mint State category. The rub is really obvious on the reverse above the eagle.

That being said, many of the coins with a rub make it into MS-61 and 62 holders. They rarely make it into MS-63 holders. When they do, they end up as “C level” coins that sell at discounts below the listed MS-63 prices.

All of that said, the services used to be conservative with their grading of the $2.50 Liberty coins. I didn’t see many “gifts” (over graded) examples of those. I don’t know if that is still the case today.

I think you might be disappointed if you send this coin in for an upgrade.

Why do you want it regraded, do you think the AU58 circulation wear the graders found then went away over the years? That's weird.

Circulation wear isn't ephemeral like market grading standards are, it doesn't go away over the years. If it had AU58 circulation wear, then, it has it, now. If they regrade it MS64, now, they're saying they found circulation wear then that really wasn't there. An old MS grade will regrade depending on fluctuations in market grading standards while circulation wear doesn't improve over time.

It is correctly graded, as well as one can tell from those pictures.
